But hopefully \u2026 flattering.<\/p>\n<p>So when I put on this Zara dress from the winter \u201806 collection, and I realized that it wasn\u2019t AS flattering as it used to have been [a hem, muffin top \u2026] I knew it was time to reach into my arsenal.<\/p>\n<p>It was time to bring out the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spanx.com\/home\/index.jsp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spanx.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Actually, they weren\u2019t really Spanx, but the cheap Target rip-off versions. I think that if I were to buy another pair, though, I\u2019d buy the real deal &#8211; since the cheap Target rip-off versions are um, ripping.<\/p>\n<p>But anyway, scroll down to see what those cheap, slightly durable, but always appreciated Spanx look like. It\u2019s not pretty \u2026 but neither was bulge of skin below my belt before before putting them on.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_kvwfc5j2ZY1qzcitt.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE LOOK: <\/strong>Flat is the new Flattering<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE DRESS:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zara.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zara<\/a>, winter \u201806 collection<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE NECKLACE:<\/strong> Gifted\/consignment from my friend Kaitlyn<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE EARRINGS:<\/strong> Vintage 80s, stolen\/borrowed from Mama D<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE BRACELET:<\/strong> I can\u2019t remember if it\u2019s vintage or gifted. Seems 80s to me, probably stolen\/borrowed from Mama D<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE BELT:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.portobelloroad.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Portobello Road market<\/a>, London, \u201806<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE FISHNETS:<\/strong> Gift from Mama D, Christmas \u201809, estimated origin: Marshals<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE SHOES:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.payless.com\/store\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Payless<\/a>, \u201808 [and I even encountered someone yesterday questioning the legitimacy of whether these were from Payless or not \u2026 \u2018tis true]<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_kvwffhXUw41qzcitt.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>This belt <\/strong>reminds me of bondage\/M&amp;S. But \u2026 it\u2019s really just a cool vintage belt from London. I promise.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_kvwfqyQJwt1qzcitt.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Great detail on <strong>this bracelet<\/strong> \u2014 and it doesn\u2019t jangle and make obnoxious noise like a lot of my other 80s black\/gold bangles do.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_kvwfuzR36I1qzcitt.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>This dress<\/strong> looks like it has an accompanying shrug, but it\u2019s all one piece.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_kvwfoq6XEn1qzcitt.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There they are in, in all of their glory! Note how they are actually rolled up [no idea why I\u2019d need them to knees] and are slightly see-through at the top.
